Glagahwangi Blossoms: Forging Closeness in the Embrace of "Regent Medhayoh"

Penerbitmajas.com - Dusk was upon Glagahwangi Village, in the heart of Sugihwaras District, Bojonegoro Regency. The air on the scorching heat of Monday, July 14, 2025, was no longer oppressive, but cool, punctuated by the buzz of conversation and laughter. It wasn't the usual bustle, but rather a buzz filled with hope and intimacy that enveloped every inch of Yusiati's house in RT 14 RW 05. There, a small stage of life, "Regent Medhayoh," was being held.

At three in the afternoon, as promised, the motorcade arrived. Regent Setyo Wahono, a familiar figure to the residents, stepped out, accompanied by Deputy Regent Nurul Azizah. His smile widened, as he greeted each outstretched hand. Each handshake was more than a formality, but a bridge of warmth that broke down the barriers between leader and people. Cellphone cameras were held high, capturing this rare moment, a memory that would be passed down through the generations.

Before the Bojonegoro leader's arrival, the Acting Head of the Food Security and Agriculture Agency (DKPP), Zainal Fanani, had already shared his concerns. Amidst the unpredictable weather, the fate of tobacco farmers was like dry leaves blown by the wind. This harsh reality served as the backdrop for the government's efforts to protect its citizens. "Regent Medhayoh" was more than just a visit; it served as a meeting place for village heads, village secretaries, farmer groups, and even neighborhood heads from across Sugihwaras District.

The terrace of the Glagahwangi Village Head's house, transformed into a simple meeting room, bore silent witness to the dialogue that ensued. Regent Wahono, with a nostalgic tone, shared a childhood story: "When I was little, when we were planting tobacco, I was taken to the rice fields to look for tobacco worms." A story that instantly lightened the mood, connecting collective memories of the past, of the land they all tread.

However, "Medhayoh" is more than just stories and dialogue. It is a tangible manifestation of the state's presence among its citizens. The free health post run by the Bojonegoro Health Office is never empty. Miatun, with a beaming face, recounted her experience, "I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol, so I was given free medication." Beyond checkups, nutrition education and healthy eating suggestions were also provided. Elsewhere, the Affordable Food Movement, initiated by the Food Security and Agriculture Office, became an oasis for residents seeking to meet their daily needs at affordable prices.

The highlight of the event came when the BPJS Employment death benefit was distributed. Seven families in Sugihwaras District, who had previously been categorized as vulnerable workers, received Rp 42 million in compensation. This figure is not just a nominal figure, but a glimmer of hope, a safety net built by the Bojonegoro Regency Government. Fadilah Utami, Head of the Bojonegoro BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Branch Office, proudly explained that the total number of registered vulnerable workers reached 157,058, plus 35,000 recipients of regional incentives. "As of the first semester, there have been 198 recipients of assistance with a total budget of around Rp 9 billion," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. She also expressed her appreciation for the initiative of Regent Wahono and Deputy Regent Azizah. "This is a concrete manifestation of the state's presence to provide services to the community," she emphasized.

Night was creeping in, but the warmth of "Regent Medhayoh" was still palpable. Amidst smiles of satisfaction and relief, Glagahwangi Village proved that the synergy between government and people, under the umbrella of caring, can create immeasurable happiness. This story is not just news, but a reflection of the spirit of togetherness that thrives in Bojonegoro. (photo: Pemkab Bojonegoro)
